Kroger Skillet Meals and Fresh Selection Salad Kit Yummy

I love being a BzzAgent and this is one of the reasons why !!!

I received coupons to try Kroger's Garlic Bread, Fresh Selection Salad Kit, and a Skillet Meal.

So no I had to decide what Salad and what Skillet Meal I wanted, they have a good selection.
This is what I ended up with.

After picking these items up I came down with the flu and for about 5 days I'd get home from work and head straight to bed.
On the 6th day I was getting hungry and feeling better---just now well enough to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

Then I remembered these items and with the help of my husband we put together a GREAT meal in about 10 minutes. It was fast, easy and with my husband it was fun!

It was delicious and I know it will be helpful to have a couple Skillet Meals in my freezer at all times.
The Salad Kits will be great for lunch at my job.
and the Garlic Bread.....well we ate on that for a couple days so I need to find a way to fix 1/4 of a loaf and refreeze the rest.

When you shop this week make sure you try these items, you won't be disappointed!

Exercising and Eating - Is That All I Need to Do?

It's a new year and lot's of people are deciding this is the year to get in shape, to drop some weight.

But I believe there's more to getting fit than exercising and watching how much you eat.

"Dear friend I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even
as your soul is getting along well."  3 John 1:2

"Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."  Proverbs 3:7-8

'health' here in the Strong's Concordance means - cure.

As I study the Bible I begin to see that God's warnings are not to keep us from having fun but to protect us. We lose our mental, physical and spiritual health when we don't shun evil; when we think we know better than God.

There are more Scrptures that talk about health but I just wanted to put a few out for now.

I personally believe I should be in God's Word daily, talking/praying and listening to Him; making sure I obey what His word says.

I can tell you after the initial ouch or hesitation, there is such a joy, a strength, and energy that comes in and this helps me exercise and helps me to say no thank you to those tempting foods.

Sit before the Lord and ask Him for guidance on getting healthy and make sure it's in all areas of your life - not just food and exercise of the body.

Salsa Recipe

Here is a recipe I will def be trying! We have tomatoes and hot peppers in our garden this year just for Salsa making !!

Fire-Roasted Salsa

About 2 cups
Active Time:
Total Time:

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large ripe tomatoes (see Canned-tomato Variation)
  • 1 large jalapeño pepper
  • 2 small cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon salt

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat grill to high (or preheat broiler).
  2. Grill tomatoes and jalapeño, turning frequently, until charred, 10 minutes for the tomatoes, about 5 minutes for the jalapeño. (To broil, place on a baking sheet and broil about 4 inches from the heat, turning once or twice, until charred, 8 to 10 minutes total.)
  3. When cool enough to handle, core the tomatoes and remove the stem from the jalapeño. Place in a food processor along with garlic; pulse to form a chunky mixture. Season with salt to taste.

TIPS & NOTES

  • Make Ahead Tip: Cover and refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Canned-tomato Variation: No fresh tomatoes? Drain two 14-ounce cans of fire-roasted tomatoes. Roast jalapeño in a small dry skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until soft and blackened in spots, 10 to 15 minutes. Pulse the drained tomatoes, jalapeño and garlic in a food processor until chunky.

Exercise Benefits

One of the definitions of 'benefit' is -  something that promotes well-being.

Here are a few benefits of exercising.

  •        reduce stress
  •        relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety
  •        boost your mood
  •        help you sleep better
  •        increase bone density
  •        strengthen your heart and lungs
I have been exercising for 5 months and have received the benefits listed above.

In three short months I went from gasping for breath when I walked up ONE flight of stairs to going up FIVE flights.
We walked around, talked and we went back down the stairs and then I stopped and said to my husband 'Wow, do you realize what I just did.' It was a time of celebration when we realized how far I had come!

            Now I'm helping other
people on their journey to a healthier life as I continue on mine.

I am 56 years 'young' and I feel like I'm 40 again. One of these days I will have the flexibility to put I feel like '30'  !!  My point.....I feel energetic and love meeting each new day with all that needs to be accomplished.

You can do this too! But you have to START and keep moving forward. You need to find a program that calls you, makes you want to get up and do it. For me it has to have high energy dance music. Other people prefer a weight routine with minimal music. Whatever you need, it's out there!
